July 2022 Trip to Fort Portal Uganda

Light for Uganda

After Covid hit in 2020, we were unable to return to see the progression of the work and dedicate the orphanage. This last summer afforded us the perfect opportunity to take a team of four to do just that. God paved the way for it all to come together wonderfully and at the perfect time.

The team left on July 10 and returned on July 22, 2022.

While there, we held a pastors conference which 1300 church leaders of different denominations from all over western Uganda attended.  We had Bible trivia questions with prizes to keep them alert. The day the conference ended, the church leaders and we all marched up the hill to the orphanage and a dedication was held, giving God all the glory for the school and orphanage.

It was overwhelmingly emotional as we saw the work the Lord has done with only our small faith.  The school has 190 paying students and there are 110 orphans who live at King’s Kid Orphanage and attend City Hill School. The paying students fees contribute to a portion of the budget it takes to run the school and orphanage. But, even with that, it leaves a large deficit which we depend on to be taken care of with donors.

The last part of the trip found the three women who went holding a women’s conference.  Then, the remaining time was spent working with the orphans and students through loving on them with encouraging messages, time spent individually with some of them, and buying sports equipment and teaching them how to play the different games.

Highlighting an orphan--Innocent.  Innocent is 16 and, while we were there, took us into the science lab and, proudly, showed us his remote controlled car built out all he could find–broom sticks.  He is a very smart boy who shows so much promise.  As long as he can live at the orphanage and study at City Hill, his future looks bright.  Thanks to all of our donors who make a difference in the lives of these forgotten ones.
